We have out of zone places available in our Year 1, 2, and 3 year levels in 2027.

How the Out of Zone Process Works

Space Assessment

Each year Silverdale School Board reviews school roll projections. If there is capacity to accept out of zone students, the school publicly announces year levels (e.g., New Entrants only) open for application.

Application Submission

Parents submit an official Out-of-Zone Enrolment Application form directly to the school office or via email (enrolments@silverdaleprimary.school.nz ) before the advertised deadline.

Statutory Priority Order

If the number of out-of-zone applications exceeds the number of places available, New Zealand law requires applications to be processed in the following strict order of priority:

First Priority: Acceptance into a special programme approved by the Secretary for Education (not applicable to Silverdale School).
Second Priority: Siblings of current students.
Third Priority: Siblings of former students.
Fourth Priority: Children of former students.
Fifth Priority: Children of Board employees or Board members.
Sixth Priority: All other child applicants.

The Ballot

If there are more applicants in a priority category than available spaces, a ballot (random draw) is supervised by an independent authority (or police officer/Justice of the Peace) to fill the remaining places. Unsuccessful applicants are placed on a waiting list in the order drawn.

Note: Out-of-zone enrolments are subject to available spaces and processed strictly in accordance with Ministry of Education priority guidelines.
